Outpatient Plus Services

What is Outpatient Plus?

Outpatient Plus Services, often referred to as OPT Plus, are delivered to children and adolescents, primarily in their home, school and community with a family focus intensive. Services are time limited with a person centered team approach that is offered in various environments and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

OPT Plus Services are intended to:

Prevent the utilization of higher levels of care such as Intensive In-Home Services, and out-of-home placements (i.e., psychiatric hospital, therapeutic foster care, and residential treatment facility)

The goals of treatment are to reduce presenting psychiatric or substance abuse symptoms

Provide first responder intervention to diffuse current crisis,

Ensure linkage to community services and resources through case management.

Who is Eligible?

  • Children and adolescents up to 17 years of age with a mental health or substance abuse diagnosis from the DSM 5 other than a sole diagnosis of IDD or developmental disability. 
  • Outpatient therapy was tried and not successful.
  • Crisis intervention and case management are needed.
  • The beneficiary is at risk of a higher level of care, such as Intensive In-Home.
  • There is no evidence to support that an alternative intervention would be equally or more affective.
