Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program

RWS' SAIOP program is a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center with a primary focus on mental health and substance abuse treatment. This is an outpatient care service, which is designed for special groups and populations such as adolescents, adults, pregnant and postpartum women, DUI and DWI offenders, and criminal offenders.

​Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment

SACOT emphasizes a reduction in use and abuse of substances and/or continued abstinence from the negative consequences of substance abuse. It supports the development of social support networks and necessary lifestyle changes, educational skills, vocational skills leading to enhanced work activity.


SAIOP and SACOT are substance abuse treatment programs that help individuals overcome addiction and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Both SAIOP and SACOT provide the following services:

Individual Counseling & Support

Group Counseling

Family Counseling and Support

Biochemical Assays to identify recent drug use (e.g., drug screens)

Strategies for relapse prevention to include community and social support systems in treatment

Life skills

Crisis Contingency Planning

Disease Management

* We currently accept Cardinal Innovation Medicaid, and private pay for these programs in both our Pittsboro and Chapel Hill locations
